NUCPS Online & Remote Learning Courses

NUCPS offers two types of virtual learning experiences: Online Learning and Remote Learning

  1. Online Learning (Instructor Led): NUCPS courses classified as Online Learning are asynchronous. In asynchronous learning, the instructor and students do not engage in the class at the same time. Content most commonly includes pre-recorded videos, online resources, and online exams. Our asynchronous courses feature a course completion deadline that gives students plenty of time to complete the course. Depending on the course, you may also have assignment deadlines and participation requirements.
  2. Remote Learning: These NUCPS courses are synchronous. In synchronous courses, students log into their course at a designated time to participate. This is similar to traditional classroom learning but takes place online with your fellow students and instructor. Synchronous courses at NUCPS require you to log into your course at the times posted on the course description and registration page. Your instructor will take attendance. Class participation and discussions are live, but you benefit from attending course from the comfort of your home, office, or other location of your choosing. Remote learning courses offer breaks and lunch, as our traditional on-ground classes provide.
Technology for Online and Remote Learning Courses

Internet: Like our on-ground courses, our online courses make use of Canvas, the NUCPS secure cloud-based learning portal. High-speed internet is recommended for the optimal learning experience.

Computers: Students will need access to a laptop or desktop computer. Most courses require Adobe Reader and some may need a USB port.

Course Log-In: Online and Remote Learning students will be emailed their class log-in information prior to the first day of class, dependent upon full payment of tuition or a purchase order on file at NUCPS.

Webcam: Our Remote Learning classes require a built-in or add-on webcam for synchronous class participation and / or closed book exams. Your class supply list will note if you need a webcam for your course.

Honorlock:  NUCPS utilizes the examination proctoring tool, Honorlock. Each student must have Google Chrome and the Honorlock Chrome Extension installed on their computer prior to the first day of the course. Instructions for the quick install process can be found at: https://honorlock.kb.help/install-the-honorlock-extension/
